Greta Pitres-Vieira has a University degree in Foreign Language Teaching, majoring in French, as well as a Master Degree in Linguistics from the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador in Caracas, Venezuela. She is also the holder of certificates from many Spanish and French courses held in Venezuela and France respectively.
She has many years of experience as a Foreign Language teacher from the Primary School to the University level. Greta also has tutoring experience with the Secretariat for the Implementation of Spanish in both the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training as well as the Community Development Programme.
Greta is a citizen of Venezuela by birth as well as a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago through her father Sargent Cesar Pitres, a World War II veteran. She was introduced to the world of Carnival Masquerading through her late husband, Carnival Mas Designer Geraldo Vieira, and is faithful to his legacy through her making costumes as a hobby as can be seen in the pictures below.
The experience of learning English on coming to live in Trinidad has enhanced her appreciation of the process of Foreign Language Learning. Greta uses this experience to foster differentiated instruction in her classes. She is excited to be part of the Trimont College team and to be able to share her love for learning.
